"Tyger, Tyger, Burning Bright..."

Wed. January 29th- in honor of the immortal William Blake, I offer up this:

24"x30" Gatorboard that was gessoed and then casein paint. "Title, "Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright."

" Oh it's the working, the working, just the working life..."

Tuesday, Jan. 28th.

Feel like I'm finding that elusive groove after having been away from the studio, paints, materials. More work..the working...

I love the purity and simplicity of this. Strathmore paper with acrylics. Sometimes, it's just the texture of the strokes and colors... "Clouds" 19"x24"

24" x24" Gatorboard with acrylic and painters ink scrubbed with gesso and then wiped down and then oil pastels on top. "Self Portrait."

Find art. Love art. Live it.

When It ....

Rains, it pours... One last piece...

This is on a piece of Gatorboard that is 24"x24". The medium is casein paint and then gesso- scrapped off and "worked." finished with bee's wax. The background is my trusty (and crusty) work table.
Title is "Cote d'Azur."

Time Gets Away...

Particularly when you're painting pigs-not actual pigs but their likeness. More about that later. Here are some new pieces including one on canvas which I haven't had the time to work on. Did some studio housekeeping to give myself more room to move (Thanks, John Mayall...real inside music reference)...Anyway...here we go..

I've been working on this all month- do a little and walk away and then come back and do a little etc etc..24"x36"- Acrylics, gesso, oil sticks, oil pastels and charcoal. There is a ton of texture to this which gives it the figurative overlay.Working title is "Dancers!"

"Provence" is on Arches oil paper 18"x24" casein paint, gesso, oil pastels. This is a terrible photo which is a downright rotten shame given the textures and depth. I think I owe a debt of enormous gratitude to Wolf Kahn whose brilliance I am in stone cold awe of.

This is on Arches watercolor paper 18"x24" printers ink, casein paint and bee's wax. Entitled "Bamboo." One of Lulu's recent favorites.

The following five images are a commission I did for a local barbecue restaurant ("Soul Pig.") They are on unstretched canvas 4 feet x5 feet. All acrylic paint and using a stencil. Not easy if the stencil is not rigid and thick. Nightmare but a great learning experience. Not the finished pieces as I had a lot of "touch up" work to do which was also a great learning piece. Reminded me of touching up negatives on a large light board.

And that's all we got Lake  Woebegone or thereabouts... Gallery show coming up at ACE 40.8 on Saturday, Feb.8th from 6pm-9pm...support local Art...Hell support ALL ART.
